Step #8
Draw a line with erasable marker in an X from both corners.
Now, you will be using a walking for from here on out
. Set your sewing machine tension on 3. Set your stitch length on 3.
Set your stitch width on 6.5 and your needle positioned in the middle of the walking foot. Sew starting at one end to the other end diagonally.
When finished with the marked line, put your arm measurer on the walking foot, and use a ruler to measure 1 inch from the needle to the arm. Like it is here.

Next, use your arm as a guide and being careful not to run over the pins, stitch the rest of the rows to the left of the 1st center one you just stitched.
When finished, turn it around and stitch the rest of the rows on the other side of the 1st center line.

Step #9
Now, turn the potholder around and do the same thing.
You will now be criss-crossing the stitches in a diamond like shape.

Step #10
It will look like this now.
Trim edges to either a 7 or 7-1/2 inch square. (This is what I said in step #1 that I would explain why) You want a good clean cut is why.
Now set this aside.

Step #11
This is the binding.
Cut 2 strips of backing fabric 2-3/4 inches wide, by 38 inches long.
Fold in half lengthwise and press good.

Step #12
Cut one end at a 45 degree angle with the WRONG side facing up.
Now, do the same thing to the other end with the RIGHT side up.

Step #13

Fold ends over towards center 1/2 inch and press, then fold back in 1/2 and press again so it looks like this.

Step #14
Sewing the binding on.
Turn your quilted pot holder around so the top is closest to you.
Start with the end that looks exactly like the above "binding end" picture and place the binding raw edges together with the raw edges of the potholder at the bottom of the potholder about 3/4 of an inch to the right of the left side.
The bottom will be furthest away from you now, since you turned it around.
Pin.
When you get to the corner, fold the fabric up.
