How to Make Sugar Stiffener.
My girlfriend was describing to me these Easter eggs that she made by
blowing up a ballooning covering it with string..pop the balloon and then
you have the egg.
But she said her egg was falling apart.
I want to make some..would "jiffy" or glue and water...work better to
soak
the string in?
Has anyone made this.
Hi Luci,
My mom used to make these and I gave her a call as soon as I read your post
to get her recipe. She uses a sugar and water combination.
1/2 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup of water
Bring to a boil and let cool.
Soak the string in the solution then wrap
around the balloon.
Let sit until completely dry then pop the ballon.
With a sharp knife carefully cut a hole in the side or cut to form a basket
shape if you wish.
Hope this is what you were looking for.
You can also use this recipe to
make hats and different things out of crocheted doilies. Just soak the
doily and shape over a bowl or whatever and let dry.
