Ok, I love angels and right now we need all the angels we can get at the safe house. Awhile ago some very kind person donated about 2 dozen candlesticks to me. Didn't have a clue what I was going to do with them until today. We made ANGELS~!! Candlestick Angels.
Materials:
Tall Wooden, glass or ceramic candle stick holder.
Styrofoam ball - appropriate size for the size of the holder
Flesh colored Paint, Black Paint
Angel Wings
Hair
Misc ribbon, lace etc.
I had the children paint the styrofoam balls flesh colored. When they were dry, we adhered them to the holder. I hot glued on hair (curly hair or moss, etc) dotted on the eyes with black....blushed the cheeks with regular makeup blush. We did several different things for the wings.
We made some wings from shaped pipecleaners to which we glued colored celophane then trimmed around the edges. I also made some of these using the pipecleaner shapes and some pretty (wide) lace. You can also use a wide ribbon tied in a bow...or purchased angel wings.
We added a halo to the top (out of the string of pearls) and Voila we have lots of Angels!
I think I might add some ribbon streamers on the next ones...glue these onto the cup before you attach the head.

Paulette, take some wide lace or lacy material, cut in wing shapes, and stiffen with a watered down glue mixture or commercial fabric stiffener. Then glue them to your angels.
It might be cheaper in the long run or you could even use a country type fabric to give them a homespun look.
