Hot glue and gun
Pin backings
1.Start by using your Exacto knife or scissors to cut out an oval body shape and wings from craft foam.
2. Now, take the pin backing and glue the wings vertically to back of body.
3. Then open the pin backing and glue the wings horizontally over the base of the pin backing.
4. Turn the pin over and dot with red marker to make the chicken's poxes. Make face eyes using the black marker.
5. Then make a small diamond shape cut out of orange paper and fold in the center to make a beak for your chicken and glue in place.
This is a great way to cheer up a child itching and scratching their way through the chicken pox's. You can add this cute saying to the pin that Shirley at Craftsayings.com has come up with.

God loves us & heals us. "The Lord is close to those whose hearts are breaking; he rescues those who are humbly sorry for their sins...He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds." Ps34:18; 147:3

Stick of Gum
No matter what is happening in our lives, God's Word, the Bible, can help us when we chew & chew over God's teachings in it - that means to read it & meditate on it every day! "Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long." Ps 119:97

Lifesaver
"Jesus came into the world to save sinners! How true it is & how I long that everyone should know it, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners!" 1 Tim 1:15a

Eraser
Jesus died so that our sins are erased. "You were dead in sins, and your sinful desires were not yet cut away. Then he gave you a share in the very life of Christ, for he forgave all your sins. Be gentle & ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others." Col 2:13; 3:13

Toothpick
As Christians we are to pick & choose what is right. The Bible teaches us how to know what is right & how to change what is wrong in our lives. "Test everything to be sure it is true, & if it is, then accept it. Keep away from every kind of evil." 1 Thess 5:21-22

The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true & to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out & helps us do what is right. 2 Tim 3:16

Numbers: Stick a little note with all the important numbers you will need on the inside lid of your box. Include your doctors number, your favourite take-out number (who wants to cook when sick?) and your favouritest and chattiest friends numbers.

Basic Pills: Get a good selection of pills for whatever problems may arise. Paracetamol for headaches, asprin for general pains, period painkillers for those achey days, It's a good idea to look at what's in the packets, usually the cheap own brand pills are exactly the same as the expensive name brands.

Plasters (in bright colours): If you get a cut, you'll feel a lot less oogie and look a lot more stylish with a bright coloured or pretty patterned plaster.

Ear plugs + sleep mask: No doubt your sleeping pattern will be messed up and if you live in a busy city, these will be essential for getting an undisturbed sleep.

Cute tissues: Get some stylish tissues or ones with your favourite cartoon character. They'll hopefully put a smile on your face when you get a sniffy nose or at least you'll look stylish for the postie.

Cold sore cream and lipsil: The worst thing in the world is having a cold sore and cracked lips without having anything to put on them.

Notepad + Pen: You can come up with the craziest ideas when you are sick so take advantage of your altered state.

Money: Put a tenner in an envelope and slip in your favourite take-out menu. You don't want to have to run out to the cash machine in your pjamas just to get something yummy to eat.

Sachet of Hot Chocolate / Soup: Sachets are small and compact and can prove to be a tasty treat when you are feeling awful.

Face masks / beauty treats: There's no better time to make yourself feel pretty.

List of things to do: Make a list of all the movies, books and things you mean to do so that you can take advantage of the sofa / bed time.

Sweets + treats: The extra sugar will help give you some energy. I recommend a kinder egg for the extra surprise. Just make sure not to pick one with a jigsaw in.

Minty Gum: Keep your breath smelling minty fresh.

Menthol Nose Spray: To unblock your nose and help you breath easy.

Bandages / Cotton Buds / Cut Cleaner: For all those big cuts and bumps.

Cough Sweets: To help those sore throats.

Bath Bomb: The most relaxing and soothing thing you can do is have a bath so make sure to add a little treat to make that bath extra special.

Novel / CD / DVD: If you are making the box for a friend make sure to add a little something to keep them entertained.

Get well t-shirt
We did a project like this for a different reason and in a slightly different way. My Mom-in-law was going to have a short hospital stay so I got a t-shirt that was a few sizes big so it would be very loose and comfy. We wrote "Nana's Get Well Shirt" on the front. Under that we did a happy scene with a sun and flowers and grass. On the back my sons wrote comments for the nurses such as "Take good care of my Nana" or "No shots allowed" It was quite a conversation piece when she wore it at the hospital and during her home recovery too. When Papa had to be in the hospital of course he needed one too. His was a little different. It said "Papa's Get Well Shirt" but the back tail of the shirt said "Needles This Way" with an arrow pointing down. Over his incision in the front was a large Band-Aid and the words Ouchee!. We decorated the sleeves, neckline and etc. with similar silliness. All of this was done with child quality artwork by my sons making it even more fun and endearing.

To let you know that someone cares,
I've made this bag for you
To help you through that nasty cold
And even a case of flu.
Hard candy to soothe sore throat and cough.
And soup to warm the soul.
Warm wishes from a friend for life
Will help to make you whole.
So snuggle up and take a rest.
This, too, shall pass away.
You'll soon be up and on your feet
To face another day.

Mammogram reminder

The original idea was pink & white M&Ms in a cellophane cone with a tag that was decorated with a pink crossed over ribbon with a ribbon rose on it:

Because I care
There is something you should do
Not just for me or just for you,
But for all those whom you hold dear -
Please have a mammogram this year!
It might be a bit aggravating
To be squished & squoozen
But you know that the best choice
Is the one you've chosen!
You will feel much better
When all is said & done,
But if not - then here's a treat -
Something just for fun.
