____________________________________________________________
Combine hot water and salt..Stir well until the salt has
dissolved.....ADD FLOUR...Work with the dough if it is sticky add
a
little more flour...until it easy to work with...
Preheat oven at 225 degrees...this is for all bread dough #1
projects...you don't want it to brown so put a piece of foil over it
and
it will keep it from browning....IF YOU USE EGG WHITES don't
spray with
Acrylic...it clouded mine... you can also spray your Lattice Bread
basket different colors if you choose too and I also glued a very
pretty cherub on the sides if you want it for a special gift....or put
a
checkered napkin in the basket and fill with all kinds of fake
cookies
and donuts with cinnamon scent and vanilla sent...or even a
touch of
allspice....it will last for a long long time..

Materials Needed:::
(1)aluminum bread pan 12-1/2"long x 6-1/2" w 3-1/2" deep
(2)Batches of ......DOUGH RECIPE #1
(1)EGG WHITES...Clear Acrylic...Rolling Pin
(3) Q-tips....12" ruler
LARGE MIXING BOWL
WAX PAPER...ALUMINUM FOIL
((WE WILL USE VANILLA IN THESE BREAD BASKET))
{WHEN YOU ARE MAKING THE DOUGH OPEN 1 PACKAGE OF OETKER VANILLA}
SUGAR.....OR 2 TEASPOONS OF PURE VANILLA...There is some clear vanilla
on the market if you can find it.
Make 2 batches of Dough Recipe #1....divide dough...Only work with 1
batch at a time...Put the remaining half in a plastic bag....
Preheat oven at 225 degrees..
......bake for 2 hours or until slightly
brown and dough is hard...(I put a piece of foil over my basket about
half way through baking so it will not brown much....It depends on if
you use gas or electric...
Take one batch of dough and roll out just like you would if were making
a pie crust......."Not to thin now" it must have body to
it............ROLL your dough OBLONG so you will have it long enough to
cut (5) 12-1/2" strips and 3/4" wide...The strips left will be for the
sides...WORK WITH DOUGH WITHOUT PUTTING WATER ON IT IF YOU CAN.....(if
you have to use water because it becomes to stiff to work with..(barely
moisten hands or finger and just touch area.....(DON'T FORGET THAT YOU
HAVE ANOTHER BATCH OF DOUGH IF YOU NEED IT.)
WORK WITH ALUMINUM PAN...BOTTOM SIDE UP...Lay the 5 strips cross way of
the pan...Space them evenly........
Lay 3 of the (12-1/2" strips across the (5) strips..they will go the
long way on the pan...Cut pieces..if you have to..just before they reach
the edge of pan...(when you cut the strips at the edge of pan...try and
cut them at a slant...it is easy when you have to insert dough...
NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE (5) STRIPS GOING OVER THE PAN AND THREE STRIPS GOING
LONG WAY LAYING ACROSS THE 5 STRIPS.......with a Q-tip or finger besure
that the strips hold to each other...I take my finger dampened and run
over the area so that they are stuck together...NOT MUCH NOW>>>
Now we need 2 long strip to go around the side of the basket..Use your
DOUGH STIFF..... I CRUNCH up Foil to stand up and BRACE my side dough
...Until it is finished.......
ONE LONG STRIP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BASKET AND ONE AT THE TOP EDGE OF
BASKET..
If your dough is dry and won't stay..RUB A LITTLE WATER AT THE JOINTS
OF EACH LAP OVER..IT WILL GLUE IT...
CAREFULLY PLACE IN PREHEATED OVEN AND BAKE...The first one might seem
hard but the second won't.....Save dough that is left in a plastic zip
bag ...will keep for weeks in refrigerator.
Dough recipe follows...will be on a new message...
