I make rag balls with all kinds of things...for tiny ones I wad up old pieces of quilt batting and take torn strips of fabric and start winding and keep going till all the batting is covered...the balls I make with this are maybe 1 1/2 in diameter...for larger ones I use my old onesie socks...ya know how the socks "disappear in the washer,etc...well I always have some...I wad them up and start wrapping till all covered...I do not use styrofoam or hard things...I like the feel of the softer balls...and they are more nateral...I usuaLLY use homespun strips or unbleached muslin....Judie
