~prayer hankies~ by Charlene D:

materials:
A pack of hankies (I use the men's 12 pack)
Crochet hook size 6
Crochet Thread ( your choice )
Cross Charms ( or your choice of charm )
Avery T-Shirt Transfers (for light colored material)
Computer & Photoshop (however you may have another program that will do the same.)

Hankies:
Using crochet thread and hook, crochet a sing crochet to attach thread to the hanky.
Then you will do the following around the hanky.

Row 1:
Single crochet to attach thread to hanky, ch 2, sc, ch2, sc, repeat this around your hanky until you reach 1st or 2nd corner.
Attach the cross charm in chain space.

Example:
ch 1, slip needle through charm and ch 1. This gives you the ch 2 and attaches the charm.
After attaching your charm continue with sc, ch2 , sc, ch2 until you have arrived back at the beginning. Slip stitch in first sc.

( repeat this step around ) when you arrive back at the beginning slip stitch into beginning ch and fasten off.

Iron-on Preparation:
I used Photoshop. I typed my poem and added a picture above the poem. I placed three of these to a page. I placed a sheet of transfer paper in my printer and printed out my iron on. It makes three at a time this way and you don't waste paper. Cutting around my poem and picture I then ironed it onto the hanky following transfer directions.

Poems:
Here's some I wrote. I only ask that you please leave my name on my writings. If you have a favorite poem you may want to use it.

~While The Candle Burns~
Graceful candle burning so
giving off a loving glow...

Shine your brightest this lonely night
a soul from earth took its flight.

Far beyond earth's lonely shores
straight up to heaven's doors.

Welcomed home by God's embrace
forever to gaze upon His face.

Shine in memory of one so dear
while we quietly shed a tear.

Prayer Cloth
This cloth holds no power
no healing touch
It's but a simple reminder
that prayer avails much.

When you kneel to pray
pour out your heart
Then rest assured
God will do His part.

~Thank You~
I was in need without a doubt
you didn't mind to help me out.

With this gift comes a heartfelt prayer
for the Lord to keep you in His care.

Should you find yourself in need of a lift
may you always remember this special gift.

In giving of yourself... one thing remains true
God's blessings, my friend, will return to you.

Note:   I used this idea to make different kind of hankies such as prayer, thank you, friend, grief...etc.
