You can do the same thing with the candy, but make a wreath as a wall hanging or centerpiece, or an Advent Calendar wreath.
Start with a styrofoam ring, cover it with a light cloth if you wish, then for a full candy wreath, use toothpicks or rounded floral wires (or make your own) and attach just the twisted part of the wrapper into the foam.

Or, add greenery to the ring first and add candy only here and there. If you use it as a centerpiece, then set a bowl of candy/cookies in the middle of the ring.
