My wreath for the birds.

I made a suet wreath for the birds and just hung it over a tree branch.
Thanks Country Roads Linda for the ide of using the wreath forms.
They work great.

I melted down my suet, bacon fat, and peanut butter, then added any old nuts, stale bread, crackers, raisins and stuff like that, then let it cool for a bit. Lined each wreath form with plastic wrap then spooned the mixture in and let it cool...before it is completely set, I put the two halves together and in the freezer.

When completely solid, I took the plastic wrap off and put back in the form and wired both halves together with twist ties. Now my birdies are having a feast.

Save that stale bread, bacon drippings and the leavings in the peanut butter jars. I make a great treat for the birds which they love. I cut the bread into squares and poke holes in each square and then string them on a piece of thin garden jute and put on a cookie sheet in the oven until completely dry. Then I melt all the bacon drippings, scrape the peanut butter from the jars into the melted bacon fat and stir until it is melted.

Then I put the string of dried bread in a bowl and pour the bacon-peanut butter mixture over it and let it soak in as much as possible. Then just hang over a branch of a tree and let the little birdies have a feast. The left over mixture, I scrape into a jar and store it in the refrigerator for next time.

Great idea, and for those that don't have bacon drippings (like me) I use shortening.
