Empty paint cans

I always save my empty paint cans and clean them out as good as possible. Was thinking how neat they would look covered with jute for a planter, but I couldn't find my jute. So I had a package of clothesline rope and used that instead. I used goop to glue the rope to the paint can. What do you think?

This is a cute idea...you could even paint a picture on the rope

Froggy, you could paint some nice scene on them also.....
Or, build a wishing well and use the decorated cans as the pail with a plant in the center of the can.

The first one is done with clothesline rope, second is sisal rope and the third is very thin jute. Still haven't found my thick jute yet. I have lots of it and can't imagine how it could be hiding for so long from me. I must be getting antsy for spring, have been separating my houseplants and repotting them. Now I have to find my herb seeds to make a window herb garden. You can use the quart cans too from paint or varnish. I have the plants in pots set inside, so it doesn't even matter if they are cleaned out perfectly, and I put felt on the bottom so it wouldn't scratch anything.
