Don't know If I ever posted the directions for my clay pot wind chimes pictured here, so here they are. I even have a poem that I wrote to go with one I made for a gift. Enjoy!

Clay Pot Wind Chimes
You need 3 clay pots in graduating sizes.
Small drill bit
Nylon cord
Copper pipes
Hack saw
Fishing line
Paint to decorate if desired.

Drill holes around the edge of the smallest pot where you want to hang your copper pipes for chimes. Cut copper pipes to size you want using the hack saw. (Some places will cut them for you, for free when you buy them) Drill holes through the top of the copper pipes to thread fishing line through. Make a loop at the end of the nylon cord and knot it, put nylon cord through the hole in the top (largest pot) so the loop is at the top for hanging, the knot will sit on the top of the pot keeping it from slipping through the hole, then knot again under the pot, then make another knot to sit on top of the medium pot, thread cord through and knot underneath, do the same for the small pot, connecting one copper pipe with fishing line to the last knot under the smallest pot.

Then attach other pipes with fishing line to the outside of the smallest pot where you drilled the holes. I decorated the outside of the pots using an ivy stencil and spray paint, then sealed with a clear coat. Another idea I used for one I made for a gift is to thread beads on the fishing line that holds the copper pipes. These sound lovely blowing in the breeze. Have fun! ©Margie Coughran 2002

Clay pots and copper pipes swinging in breeze
Making lovely music that is sure to please.
Hang me from your porch or even from a tree
I'll dance in the wind for everyone to see.
