Here are a couple of pictures of my cards how I do them. I did two different types of stitching in them.
These ones are big enough to put jewelry in too!
I bought these cards for a dime each so I was thrilled with those costs!
hope I did this right to show the three pictures in one frame

I was just thinking that the christmas cards will soon be getting sent out. So, I'd like to share how I recycle them. I cut some up to use aa card tags on gifts. Others I cut out the design and cover with clear contac paper and use them on yo-yo magnets. And you can punch holes in some and string a ribbon though to hang on your tree. You can also make ornaments out of cards. Well those are some of the things I do with my cards. What do you do?

Hi Roxy,
I like to cut out different shapes, two of each shape and glue lace in between to give them a victorian look for ornaments. I also use the pictures from cards to make my CD suncatchers and embellish around them with glitter paint. You can decoupage the pictures on wood cutouts or wood disks from small logs, or even small juice can lids, drill a hole for hanging and use lace, ribbon, jute or raffia to trim around and make the hanger too.
Another idea is to use them to make wrapping paper or gift bags....I use brown paper bags and you can leave them natural or sponge paint, then add the cut outs from the cards....they look really pretty if you glue paper doilies behind the cards. For the gift bags you can punch holes in the top and lace ribbon, raffia or jute through and tie a bow to keep them closed. You can also use them and decoupage a collage of pictures on an old shoe box, or any box to make a gift box. If I think of anything else, I will let you know. Thanks for your ideas. I have crocheted around them too, and completely forgot about that.

Froggy, many years ago my gramma would cut two pieces out and glue them togeher leaving a small hole to stuff some cotton inside and some sachet powder. Then she would glue close the hole and add a ribbon bow. They made the langerie drawer smell so nice. I think she use to do something similar useing material and pine leaves ummm those needles?

That would be a good idea to do on the tree too. Could use pine needles, or even potpourri.

Back when the portrait packages at Walmart included a bunch of those postage stamp-sized pictures, I could never figure out what to do with such tiny pics. So one year I used cookie cutters as patterns to cut Christmasy shapes out of old Christmas cards.
Then I glued the small pictures of my kids on the white back of the card shapes, wrote the year, and punched a hole for a ribbon hanger to make a tree ornament.
They were so cute that I went back and made 12 complete sets, going back to the year that my oldest child was born - one set for me, one for each of my two kids and one for both sets of grandparents and all the kids' aunts and uncles.

Jeri,
Welcome to Craftpals recycling and nature bb. I love your idea with the little pictures. They would make wonderful keepsake ornaments. I'm even thinking they would be great on wood cutouts, or disks cut from small logs too, trimmed with lace, ribbon, raffia, jute, or even glitter paint. Thanks for the idea and keep them coming.

I take a hole puncher and put holes all around the whole card.
Then take very long raffia and string it through the holes in and out. Use a dental floss threader to pull it through and it's very easy.
Then when I get abck to the starting point again I tie the rest of the raffia into a bow.
I use these ont he tree when I give a money gift or gift certificate. I have even put a CD inside a larger card.
It drives them nuts because they know there is something in there but don't know how to get it out! I love doing thisngs like this.
They have to unravel most of the raffia to get it out.
I use last year's cards to do this with.
I just cover the names in another color then add my own note to it.
Then I put a hanger on it and hang it on the tree as an orny.
I should say start and stop usually at the bottom so you will need even numbers of holes in the card.
They are neat and different than envelopes with money or certificates in it.
If you do them tight enough you cna put jewellery inside as well.

Wow, what a neat idea Norma. You always come up with something original. Thanks for sharing this one.
Now here is another one that I do. Using last years cards.
I find 2 pretty ones that the designs are the same size. I cut them out and glue them back to back. Now I cover both sides with clear contact paper leaving about 1/8 inch edge all around. Next, I punch small holes evenly around the outside edge and then I crochet a pretty border around the edge. They come out pretty and I use different colors of thread to accent the cards. Now you simple put a hook and hang on the tree. They last for several years.
