Baby food jar bath salts

Here are the jars I did with wire and beads and filled with bath salts for my daughter's baby shower. I spray painted the lids. Took 2-18 inch pieces of 19 guage wire, twisted it around the jar on two sides...added faceted beads, as many as you want and size you want. Then just curl the wire any way you like.

For the bath salts I filled a quart size zip lock bag with epsom salts, added about 6 drops of food coloring and 10 drops of Jasmine essential oil. Shook bag to mix well and then let sit in the bag for several days before filling the jars.
I wrote a poem to go with it.

THANKS FOR COMING
AND SHARING MY JOY.
THE COMING ARRIVAL
OF MY BABY BOY.
THESE JASMINE BATH SALTS
ARE A SMALL GIFT.
TO GIVE YOUR SPIRIT
AND BODY A LIFT.
IN YOUR BATH WATER
PUT A TEASPOON OR TWO.
HAVE A RELAXING SOAK
MEANT JUST FOR YOU.

I took some baby food jars, some wire and beads, and voila...a pretty candle holder.
I am making these for my daughter's baby shower for on the tables and for prizes.
Just have to get the candles to put in them now. Still have 10 more to go.

~ how to make a snowglobe ~

After I get over all these Holidays, this is going to be my next project. I wanted to share it with you.

Materials:
jars with tight fitting lids ( Make sure the jars fit the figurines that have been selected.) plastic or ceramic christmas figurines (houses, animals, etc.) to fit in jars.

oil based enamel paint in holiday colors
paintbrushes
mineral oil (to thicken the water and make the snow fall slower)
sandpaper
clear drying waterproof epoxy
distilled water
glycerin ( available at drugstores or groceries)
white or silver glitter for snow ( crushed eggshells also work well in a jar with mineral oil.) silicone sealant

1...Paint jar lids in holiday colors, using oil based enamel. Let dry well.

2...Sand inside of jar lids to roughen up the surface. Wipe clean with damp cloth.

3... Use clear epoxy to adhere holiday figurines to the inside of the jar lid to create a holiday scene. Let dry.

4... Fill jar nearly to the top with distilled water, and add a few pinches of white glitter for snow

5...Add a drop or two of glycerin to help snow swirl around and not fall too quickly. Be careful not to add too much glitter, or it will stick to the bottom of the jar when it is turned over.

6... Carefully screw the lid on the jar. Shake up and enjoy.

7... If you like the way it looks, take the lid back off and use silicone sealant on the lid before permanently reattaching it.

Snow globes are typically small, but using larger jars allows for larger, more dynamic scenes. Cut out and glue images to the outside of the jar on the back side of the figurine scene that is inside the far to add depth and interest to it.

Pictures of mountains with snow help to create a perfect winter scene. You could use old used christmas cards for your background.
