don't throw anything away
day old bread: cut it up and use for croutons or bread crumbs
empty plastic yogurt cups: fill with water to make giant ice cubes for leamonade or punch
butter wrappers: save in a bag in the fridge and use to grease pans and baking sheets
cereal and cracker crumbs: use to coat chicken or fish for a crispy crust
cheese ends: put in food procesor with butter, wine or beer and serve as a spread.

instead of buying.. flavored yogurt: buy a large container of plain yogurt and mix with fruit preserves or fresh fruit and honey
instead of buying... frozen pizzas: buy frozen bread dough, thaw and roll out. add your own toppings
instead of buying... quick cooking rice: cook a large quantity of regular rice and freeze in serving size portions for future meals
**DID NOT KNOW YOU COULD FREEZE RICE
instead of buying....chicken tenders: take skinless, boneless chicken breast, pound it to about 1/2 inch and cut into strips with kitchen scissors
instead of buying...packaged waffles or pancakes: make you own and freeze, then pop in the toaster.

arrange your canned goods shelf in order of meats, vegetales, soups, sauces etc so you can tell what you have at a glance
instead of making your weekly menu and then going shopping, look at what is on sale in supermarket flyer's and plan your menu for the rest of the week
don't go store to store to get better deals.
get a preferred shopping card so you will get automatic discounts and coupon mailings
blemished fruits can be use for pies and cakes.
low cost cuts of meat are better then expensive cuts of steak for dishes like casseroles.
look for bread and meat that are marked down because of their near expiration dates, they're fine to eat; just cook quickly or pop in the freezer
toothpaste, shampoo etc are more expensive at the grocery store, buy them at a drug store or places like walmart .

always shop with your list.
if you place a unplanned purchase in your cart, write the item on your list so you know how much those added items add to the total cost

If your children help you with the cleaning. When using powdered cleansers, poke only two pencil holes in the canister. This way less will come out, so there will be no waste.
