I used scissors but I warmed the CD first , just let it sit in hot water for a bit and then just cut when hard again soak some more. Ivana

The one site I saw says to use and exacto knife but I haven't tried it yet. Let me know if it works.

Has anyone managed to soften up a CD so you can shape it into a bowl?? If so how? I tried putting it in boiling water on the stove but that didn't work. Can they be put in tne oven or microwave? Thanks!

I can't remember the temperature, but just put them over a small oven safe custard cup or something like that and they turn out great. Start with a lower temperature and keep an eye on them and adjust your temperature accordingly. I like doing it so the label side is the inside and shiny side on the outside, then paint the inside. They look pretty with some tulle on the inside and filled with potpourri. Haven't made these in a long time...Thanks for reminding me. Margie

Hazelanne,
You can put them in the oven on a low temp. Watch them closely. If you use an oven safe bowl, I would go ahead and place the CD on it in the oven. You don't want to put them in the microwave unless you want to see fireworks. They make the microwave spark.

I WANT MY MUMMY! (CD Craft)

I found the original idea for this on Tallmouse.com. They used a paper mache box, but I thought I could use up some of those excess CD's, so I basecoated the printed side, then sprayed it white to cover the print. Then I tore some 1 inch strips from an old white sheet and wrapped the CD mummy style. Then I painted on watered down white glue and let it dry. Added some wiggly eyes, cheek color and mouth with watered down red paint. Then I painted along all the strips with black paint to bring them out. Who says a mummy can't be cute.

In Response To: I WANT MY MUMMY! (Sue L.) WOW!!! This is a cute idea. A good way to get rid of all those unwanted cd's. I bet you could come up with a lot of different idea. Like painting the cd's with a nice background and insert clock parts and make a cute clock out of them. Just a thought.

Snowflake (CD project)

Here is my latest CD craft. Hard to see the sparkle since the sun wasn't shining. Hope you like them. I glued a paper doilie between two CDs and a loop of fishing line for hanging. Then I covered the whole thing with crystal glitter paint, then added cut outs from the doilies. and added more glitter paint. If the sun ever shines again, I will try to get better pictures. In Response To: okay, been staying busy since it's raining (snowflake cds) (Michigan Froggy) I never thought of putting the doily inside. I use small ones on top. This is so feminine. I'll bet three in a row (straight down) would be beautiful hanging in a long narrow window in a bedroom. Thanks for sharing these.
