making lighted ashtray

Hi Cindy!
These are the large ashtrays or the zig zag fluted ones are candy dishes.
They are heavy glass.
You use 20 string lites placed in the bottom of ashtray #1 as Luci said.
The ashtray #2 is turned upside down over #1 and secured.
On the smooth ones I used cellophane tape around the edges, leaving the holes open.
On the candy dishes I spotted E6000 in about three spots to secure the top.
Embellishments come next.

The original directions I saw said to use ribbon around the edges you just secured.
I didn't care for that, so left mine plain.
Nizza did a great job of using the deco ribbon like a package ~ which offers something to glue to. Another lady friend uses candle rings and hot glues them in place on the top, then puts a crystal like ornie in the center.
I personally found making a wire base then building from there works for me.
Mine is a 2 day process for the glues to dry on day 1, and embellish on day 2.
Whichever way you choose, you will have fun.
