Materials: 16 oz. 4 ply White
4 oz. 4 ply Red
4 oz. 4 ply Green
"I" crochet hook
Gauge: 4dc = 1", 3 rows = 1 3/4"
Skirt is approximately 40-45" diameter
With white, ch 27 sts (V stitch is 2 dc in the space between 2 dc)
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 3, turn, (ch 3
ALWAYS counts as 1 dc) (25 dc)
Row 2: Dc in 1st dc. (1st V st made) * 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc.
(V st made) * Repeat from * to * across, ending with V st in
turning ch, ch 3. (13 V st, 24 dc)
Row 3: Dc between 1st and 2nd dc (V st over V st) * 1 dc in next 2 dc,
V st over V st * Repeat from * to * across, ending with V st
over V st, ch 3, turn. (13 V st, 24 dc)
Row 4: V st over V st, 1 dc in next 3 dc, Repeat across, ending with
V st over V st, ch 3, turn. (13 V st, 36 dc)
Row 5: V st over V st, 1 dc in next 3 dc, Repeat across, ending with
V st over V st, ch 3, turn. (13 V st, 48 dc)
Row 6: V st over V st, 1 dc in next 3 dc, Repeat across, ending with
V st over V st, ch 3, turn. (13 V st, 60 dc)
Row 7 through 24: Repeat Row 6 until there are 23 dc between each V st
(13 V st, 276 dc) 12 flared panels.
Granny Square: With white, ch 5, join with a sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, * ch 2, 3 dc in ring *, 3 times, ch 2, join
with sl st to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off.
Rnd 2: Attach green in any ch-2 space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same
space, * ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 space *, repeat
from * twice, ch 1, sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: Attach red in any ch-2 space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same space,
* ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1 (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner
ch-2 space *, repeat from * twice, ch 1, 3 dc in next space, sh 1,
sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: Attach white, make a row of sc around, having 3 sc in each corner,
1 sc in each ch 1, and 1 sc in each dc. Fasten off. Make 13.
Make 13 more squares reversing position of red and green. Total 26 squares.
Guage for squares = 4" before last white sc row is attached.
With right sides facing, sew Granny Squares together to form a strip of
alternation colors. Sew strip to bottom of skirt right sides facing and
easing in fullness. With white put a row of sc around entire skirt having
3 sc in each corner. Make a ch about 18" long, lace through dc's in first
row for tie.
