Crochet Pineapple Collar
Title: Crocheted Pineapple Collar
size approx. 17" around neck edge x 5"
note: For child's size, omit last pineapple pattern, working final row.
Materials:
250 yds. Coats & Clark Acrylic Knit-cro-sheen or Coats & Clark
Acrylic South Maid or DMC Baroque; size 7 steel crochet hook or any size
required for gauge; 5/16" diameter round ball pearl button (optional).
Gauge: 9 dc = 1 inch
Note: Collar may be worn over blouse with pearl button or sown into a sweat-
shirt.
Chain 33.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each of next 7 chs; (ch 5, sk next
3 chs, sc in next ch) 5 times; ch 5, sk next 3 dhc, work (3 dc,
ch 2, 3 dc) in last ch (shell made). Ch 5, turn.
Row 2: Work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp of next shell (shell made), ch 5,
sk next lp, work (dc, ch 6, dc) in next lp; ch 5, sk next lp, work a
shell in next lp; sc in next lp, ch 5, sc in next lp; ch 5, sk next
2 sc, sl st in each of next 6 sc. Ch 8, turn.
Row 3: Sk first 6 sts, sc in next lp; ch 5, sc in next lp; ch 5, shell in
next shell; ch 4, sk next lp,, work 14 tr in next ch-6 lp (for base
of pineapple); ch 4, sk next lp, work a shell in next shell. Ch 5,
turn.
Row 4: Shell in next shell, ch 4, sk next lp, sc in each of next 14 tr on
pineapple; ch 4, sk next lp, shell in next shell; (ch 5, sc in next
lp) twice; ch 5, sk first 2 chs on next ch-8 lp, sc in each of
remaining 6 ch. ch 8, turn.
Row 5: Sk first 6 sc, sc in next lp; (ch 5, sc in next lp) twice; ch 5,
shell in next shell; ch 5, sk next lp and next sc on pineapple, sc in
each of next 12 sc on pineapple; ch 5, sk last sc on pineapple and
next lp, shell in next shell. ch 5, turn.
Row 6: Shell in next shell, ch 5, sk next lp and next sc on pineapple, sc in
each of next 10 sc; ch 5, sk last sc on pineapple and next lp, shell
in next shell; (ch 5, sc in next lp) 3 times; ch 5, sk first 2 chs on
next ch-8 lp; sc in each of remaining 6 ch. ch 8, turn.
Row 7: Sk first 6 sc, sc in next lp; (ch 5, sc in next lp) 3 times; ch 5,
shell in next shell; ch 5, sk next lp and next sc on pineapple, sc in
each of next 8 sc on pineapple; ch 5, sk last sc on pineapple and
next lp, shell in next shell. ch 5, turn.
Row 8: Shell in next shell, ch 5, sk next lp and next sc on pineapple, sc in
each of next 6 sc; ch 5, sk last sc on pineapple and next lp, shell
in next shell; (ch 5, sc in next lp) 4 times; ch 5, sk first 2 chs on
next ch-8 lp; sc in each of remaining 6 ch. ch 8, turn.
Row 9: Sk first 6 sc, sc in next lp; (ch 5, sc in next lp) 4 times; ch 5,
shell in next shell; ch 5, sk next lp and next sc on pineapple, sc in
each of next 4 sc on pineapple; ch 5, sk last sc on pineapple and
next lp, shell in next shell. ch 5, turn.
Row 10: Shell in next shell, ch 5, sk next lp and next sc on pineapple, sc in
each of next 2 sc; ch 5, sk last sc on pineapple and next lp, shell
in next shell; (ch 5, sc in next lp) 5 times; ch 5, sk first 2 chs on
next ch-8 lp; sc in each of remaining 6 ch. ch 8, turn.
Row 11: Sk first 6 sc, sc in next lp; (ch 5, sc in next lp) 5 times; ch 5,
shell in next shell; sk next 2 lps (lp on pineapple), sc in next
shell. ch 5, turn.
Row 12: Shell in next shell, ch 5, sk next lp, work (dc, ch 6, dc) in next
lp; ch 5, sk next lp, shell in next lp; sc in next lp, ch 5, sc in
next lp; ch 5, sk first 2 chs on next ch-8 lp, sc in each of remaining
6 chs. Ch 8, turn.
Repeat Rows 3 through 12 until neck edge measures approximately 17", ending
with Row 10.
Final Row: Sk first sc, sc in next sc (for button loop); (ch 5, sc in
next lp) 6 times; ch 5, shell in next shell; sk next 2 sps, sc in
next shell.
Finish off and weave in ends. Block collar to size. Sew button opposite
buttonhole (optional).
For sweatshirt: Sew collar to sweatshirt neck with right side of collar
facing inside of sweatshirt, approximately 1/2 inch from top of neck.
Flip collar inside out to lay evenly over ribbing at neck.
