Here's a thought. With construction paper you trace the kids handprints, with hands slightly open to look like the shape of a tulip. Make stems and line the bottom of the bulletin board. Make a big sun with a happy face in a top corner. Put the phrase "Teachers help knowledge bloom in the mind of a child".

Here are a few suggestions for Teacher Appreciation Week. Our Parent Group has done some of the following;
Parents chipped in to pay for their teacher to attend a special training. Another year we chipped in to buy her a gift certificate. Another year we chipped in what we could afford and gave them a cash "bonus"

We've asked the teachers' for a book wish list of the books they would like to have in their classroom. We sent the list home, and parents selected books to donate. (We set it up like a gift registrey--one person had master list, you had to call her to tell her what book you've selected so that there weren't duplicates.)

We set up a volunteer schedule for the week. We sign-up to read to the class, help with projects, give extra help on assignments to those children who needed it, etc. The teachers' really enjoyed having an "extra" hand.

We sent our teachers' flowers and ballon bouquets.
We has each child draw a picture for the teacher and write why their teacher was so special to them and then we put them all together in a scrapbook.

We created a "Rainy Day Box" for each classroom. We put all the following items in a box and attached a note that said, "Open on the next rainy day." We had craft kits (enough for the whole class--all ready cut-out, with all supplies, ready to go) with the following items in the box too;

coloring books, stickers, ditto games/puzzles/mazes, rub on tatooes, song sheet with silly songs, an a fun, but educational video, books (from tag sales, but in great shape and cleaned up and mended) and lolipops for a treat. The teachers and the children loved them. The teachers said the boxes were a big hit since rainy days are the longest days (no recess). Parents continue to donate items for the boxes.

We did secret deeds for our teachers. One day we cleaned her desk, then we cleaned-up the room and added a few surprises, like a few new books, and needed supplies, when the teacher was at lunch we left a big note on the black board stating why she was so special, one day we set flowers and a "Goodie" on her desk saying how "Sweet" she was.
We had all the children make cards for their teacher.
Hope this suggestions are of some aid.

This idea is great whether or not you are short on funds. We have called different businesses, told them we were preparing for teacher appreciation week, and asked them if they would like to donate something for our teacher. Call the flower shops, theaters, car washes, restaurants, etc. Participation some years are better than others depending on the budgets of these businesses. We will probably have something to surprise her with each day of the week. We have also collected money, and have had mothers prepare meals or desserts, or volunteer lunchroom or playground duty. I would really like to find a unique way to present her with her surprises. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have done Teacher Appeciation Week at our day school for 4 years now and have tried all different things. Here is a short list of somethings that were done and appreciated.

* Every student bought a single flower. By the end of the day, the teacher had a handsome bouquet to take home.
*Every Student brought in a piece of fruit, by the end of the day the teacher had a big basket of fruit to take home.
* We had a lunch buffet for all the teachers--parents provided a dish/dessert.
* We gave gift Certificates to the local mall and teacher store.
*We called the local radio station and had them announce to the community what great teachers we had--we also contacted the local newspaper one year and ran an article on our outstanding teachers.
* Movie Tickets
* Local Eatery Gift Certificates
* Bouquet of Balloons
* Magazine Subscribtions
* Corsages
* Theme Baskets (Pamper yourself--lotions, goodies, bath acces. etc.)
Hope these ideas are helpful. Good luck with Teacher Apprecition Week.

1. Take a (craft)chalkboard..or use one similar if not too large. Use white paint and paint teacher's name on..dress is up with gluing different school related craft objects..like erasers, chalk, pencil, books, apple, etc..And add rope for hanging.

2. Use similar idea with a plaque cut from wood.The one we made has a picture of two books with an apple sitting on top of them in left top corner, the teachers name in the Middle, with a pencil painted cross ways underneath. Rope for hanging Name sign.

3. Print a saying on school related stationary...something like..
To Teach is To Touch Lives Forever...or another related saying.
Laminate it.. or frame it.

4. Use small flower pot turned upside down and glue med. size wooden head on it, Paint pot white, add glitter to dress it up. Glue bow to front, or use lace to go around pot under head. Use puffy wings or use two wooden hearts for wings.. add doll hair and halo. Glue a wooden heart to front, with saying
Teacher's are Angels... or Teacher's Angel. Glue a small apple or
school related object to heart if you can find an object small enough. Instead of a heart...you can glue a wooden book to front with saying...or Write on it..Math Teacher's Angel.. History..etc.

5. Take small flower pot painted(your choice) place a flower inside, made from wood and painted, foamies and pipe cleaner,or use a plastic one.. Paint saying on front of pot..something like... You're a flower among buds...or.. Teacher's Help Knowledge Bloom In The Mind Of A Child.
You can also glue flat wooden apple to front of flower pot with saying on the apple. Hope something helps or sparks an idea for you.

Here are two simple ideas that our school does every year. Room parents (w/ the help of students) make door banners out of butcher paper & die-cuts to hang on the doors on Monday morning.
"Mrs. Smith is the apple of our eyes" with a bunch of apples with her students names on them, would be a sample of one of the many ideas that people come up with.
The other favorite activity that our teachers love is "Flower Day", A flyer is sent out a few days prior to the assigned day asking students to bring a flower from their gardens to present to their teachers.
The room moms usually come early that morning to collect the flowers & put them in a vase.
We usually remind the student not to pick flowers from their neighbors yards without permission.
And we tell the parents that it is ok to buy a flower. Kids usually bring more than one flower so room moms might want to be ready with more than one vase.
