A tea party for Mother's Day!
Hello ladies,
Just wanted to let you ladies know about a project I am making for my mom
for mother's day. I bought a round "hat box" type of chipboard box. They
also make them in that dark brown paper machie too. They sell these in
any craft store including Walmart and Michaels. Anyway it is a 8" round
box with a lid. Here's what I am doing.
I am painting the box {not lid} a pale pink. Next I am cutting a 16"
diameter round piece of material, it is pale pink, mint green, white
and lavender. I am glueing this onto the top of the lid. Next I am going
to use a 14 " round doilie and glue it ontop of the fabric. You will
now have a "table cloth" as the box is the "table". Next take some
leftover fabric and make 4 mini rectangle placemats to scale. I bought
a set of mini teacups and saucers for $3. Each cup is a little bigger
than a thimble. Now glue the saucers to the placemats and the cups
onto each saucer around the "table". I also bought a miniature of a
plate of cookies for $3.75 {kind of pricey, but cute}. and will glue this
onto the top in the middle of the table.
Now for the fun part.....I am putting 2 teacups and saucers, severaltypes of herbal tea bags and a bag of scone mix in there . Now she and
I can have our own tea party and make scones together.

Priscilla just shared a great idea for making a tea party
gift box for Mother's Day gifts.
This would also make a wonderful gift for many other
occasions. For those, one could dramatically reduce the
costs by making the miniature teacups, saucers, and plate
from ovenbake polymer clay (e. g., Sculpey or Fimo) or bread
dough, and the cookies from either ovenbake clay or salt
dough. And, of course, one could make the scone mix from
scratch and recycle cookie tins, and boxes you've made yourself out
of cadboard, et cetera.
Just a thought ... The idea as posted was _WONDERFUL_, and
ideal for Mother's Day; this is just a way to make it more
affordable for more casual occasions / recipients.
