Q-Tip Cuties:
A Q-Tip, cut in half, forms the head and the body of these mini dolls.
Roll end of swab in the Aleene's tacky glue (in the gold bottle).
Let dry completely. Paint face features. The eyes are applied by dipping a
toothpick into black acrylic paint and "dotting" onto face. Use a fine line
brush or pen to draw the eyelashes.
Repeat this procedure on the mouth, using a toothpick dipped into red paint.
Glue the Q-Tip body to a circle of cardboard about the size of a penny.
To make it stand up, insert stem of Q-Tip into cardboard.
(Create hole by starting with pin hole and continue to enlarge
until the Q-Tip fits snugly.)
For the "bust", glue a small piece of cotton to the front.
For arms, take a piece of light covered wire (30gauge), wrap with florist
tape and wrap around neck and bend.
The blouse is a piece of fabric 1" x 1-3/4".
Glue blouse over cotton bust and arms.
Glue back first and then front. Make sure your doll has a waistline.
Tuck fabric at arms.
The skirt is a piece of fabric 5" x 5/8". Glue small hem into skirt. Gather
skirt along top edge with wire or thread. Place skirt on figure, upside down.
When you pull the skirt down, it has a finished edge at the waist and the
seam allowance is on the inside. Glue back seam together.
Add hair. You could use yarn, or yarn wrapped and glued into a upswept
hairdo or a small patch of fake fur. Complete with accessories to create
the desired doll.
