Here is a great craft for kids as young as 6..... An easter/ Spring basket.
you will need:
An oval or egg shaped balloon, blown up to as large as you want the basket to be.
A skein of the thin cotton yarn/ string you can find in a craft store.
(I don't know what it's called but I know that it's all cotton and it's not "fuzzy")
Liquid starch
Posterboard or a large cardboard circle that you will use as the base of your basket.

1. Dip the string into the liquid starch. Let it soak up the starch.
2. Begin by wrapping the string around the balloon. Wrap as much as you want,
being careful to not have big holes in your "egg".

3. When the thickness you want has been achieved (the string should not be wrapped
solidly around the balloon like paper machie, there should be holes, but none so
big as to have something like an egg fall out) simply cut off the string and let the egg dry.

4. When the egg is dry, pop the balloon. Cut an oval opening in the front of the egg.
Pull out the balloon through the hole.

5. Staple the posterboard to make a ring as to hold the egg. Decorate as you wish.
That's all there is to it. Fill the "egg" with plastic grass or shredded paper.
Put whatever your heart desires inside! These last for years, just don't store them in a
damp basement because it will get soft and moldy.

ENJOY!
