Treasure Rocks

Here's something that will amuse the kids...at least for a short time,
but you must make them up a week in advance:

We had a family get-together last year and I made Treasure Rocks
for the kids and then we had a "Treasure Hunt".

Combine:

1 c. flour
1 c. used coffee grounds
1/2 c. salt
1/4 c. sand
1 c. water

Mix well.
I bought small 3" race cars and first wrapped them in aluminum foil so they wouldn't rust.
Then I molded this mixture around the cars making them look like regular rocks.
I put them out in the sun to dry and turned them over every day for one week until they were good and hard.
Then before our get-together, I hid them in the yard.
I made one rock up without anything in it and told the kids, "This is the type of rock we're looking for", and sent them out on their treasure hunt.
When each one had found their "rock", I carefully cracked it open with a hammer (adult supervision on this one), and out popped their cars.
The adults were just as thrilled as the kids.
When you mold them, try to make them look like rocks and not cow patties...that's not the treasure they're after.
However, it would also make a great gag gift for the office party!!!!

Have fun!!!
