Mother Day gift!

Cute idea for a mothers day gift - a friends grandchildren did this-
take a rather large terra cotta flower pot - let the children paint on
it as they want to- then buy some flowers and greenery, plant them and
give as mothers day gift.

Seashell Lights

Wondering what to do with your beautiful seashells from last years vacation?
After cleaning them try to match each seashell up with another shell of
equal size. The one's I've seen are about a 2" round diameter. Next using a
strand of miniature white christmas lights glue the two shells together
around a bulb, now the light is enclosed within the two shells. Continue
doing this until all the bulbs are covered and then simply hang up! It looks
beautiful and creates a warm gold glow !

Decoupage

I frequently cut out items to decopauge while I'm out with the kids such as
at the park, childrens museum, and basically any place that I have time like
waiting in the car. Here's what I do:

I bought a see thru video tape plastic box and I keep my little
scissors and items I've cut out to decopauge in there. This way they
don't get creased or ripped and I can just throw it in the diaper bag
and don't have to worry with it. Also if I'm working with paper
napkins or small pieces of wrapping paper I can store them in there too.

Recycling plastic containers

You can always use the containers as banks for the kids. Either paint or
decopauge the container and cut a slot into the top for the coin.
I've used metal and plastic nestle quick containers for these before. You can
also use these containers as a "vase" by painting and or decopauging and removing
the small round cover and placing flowers inside.

Decorating Straw hats

Hi - how about making a table centre using a straw hat decorated with
flowers, and a few miniature garden tools and perhaps artificial birds
or butterflies. It would be really cute as a table centre for an
outdoor dinner. I have also seen them with a welcome sign added to the
decorations to hang on a door.

Anyone into candle making? Is there a way
to put dried flowers inside the candles?

The normal method is to attach them to the outside of the
candle ... e. g., melt some _clear_ wax, brush it along the
outside of a pillar candle, gently press the dried flowers
onto the melted wax, then dip in more melted wax (or brush
with additional melted wax) to hold in place.

_HOWEVER_, keep in mind that dried materials are highly
flammable -- adding to the flammability of the candle. If
you give this as a gift, be sure to attach a card reminding
the recipient never to leave lighted candles unattended. (I
do this with _ALL_ candles I give as gifts ... I'd rather be
safe than sorry, and would never forgive myself if a
recipient had a tragedy because of something I failed to mention.

Painting Flower Pots

I was wondering if any of you knew of Duncans paints?
This is a brand that has been around for years, based out of California.
We use it alot in our shop because it is so versatile and has usually
good results not only coverage but in their fired glazes too.

There has been a paint out now for a few years called granite
stone. It is non-fired and can be put on surfaces from paper
to ceramic to wood and plastic. Can be put on outside pots,
or decorative plastic containers.

I have tried it on wrought iron, plastic and ceramic. They're nice.
Come in various colors and does hold up fine. So don't throw away that
favorite flower pot that has become old and dingy, just spruce it up with
this product. You can sponge it on or brush, I like the sponging effect.
Well, everyone have a good day!

I have a storage idea from my sister in law. I have to give her credit for it.

She took the Parmesan cheese shaker and once it was empty (:= ) she can
put up to three different colors of yarn in there and pull the string
through the holes. It keeps them organized and easy to get at.

HI:
THAT IS A GREAT IDEA. THIS CAN ALSO WORK WITH THE MESH BAGS THAT YOU
GET YOUR VEGGIES IN, OR CUT THE BOTTOM OFF A 2 LITRE POP BOTTLE AND TAPE
BOTTOM BACK ON. THOUGHT YOU MIGHT ENJOY THESE IDEAS AS WELL.
