Screen Leaves by: Bonnie K I purchased a roll of aluminum screen (allows you to form the leaf when it is finished) at the home center. I printed out some templates of leaves from one of my print programs. I cut 4 leaves at a time, then sprayed them with either gold or copper. Dimensional paint is called for on these...On some leaves I used a contrasting color for the lines....and on some leaves, when I was spraying them, I used two colors...gold and copper...made them look a bit variegated. This is a time consuming project, waiting for paint to dry is not one of my favorite things to do...the cutting is a bit tricky, but after a while I stopped trying to get all the little nooks and cranies...they really don't matter. AND, use old scissors! After you paint around the edges, and the paint is dry, you can clip off any little screen wires that are poking out. HGTV they had a short segment about these - they put a piece of screen over a real leaf...used a fine tip marker to draw the outline and veins. Then used the dimensional paint to cover the lines...let it dry and then cut it out. That is easier than the way I did it! Bonnie |
